ANOTHER Santander tale of woe

  • Well, I've finished my letter of complaint, and a letter telling Santander I want to close all the accounts. I've also found out a couple of interesting things.

    1) I looked at the ombudsman website and gave them a ring. I know I have to wait until I have been through the bank's own procedures first before they will actually look into the case. What I didn't know was that, even right at the start, the ombudsman will send out a brief letter outlining the complaint and asking the bank to look into it. They were hugely nice and helpful, and will be sending that letter for me - which will hopefully at least flag up to Santander that I am not going to give up and go away!

    2) I rang RBS to ask about transferring to a branch in scotland. They immediately knew why and have a procedure all set up - must have had loads of customers doing this. they will send me special form and all can be done by post - no need to go to scotland! Only thing is of course once the 'takeover' fully goes through, then it will not be possible to go into a branch of RBS in England cos there won't be any. But for those of us who hardly ever go into a branch that's probably a small price to pay for escaping Santander.

In fact I think these 2 things might even be worth a thread as might be useful to others...
  • There is little doubt having read this and other threads on the subject of Santander that it is the most appalling organisation and should not be allowed to be a bank in the UK.

There seems to be liitle consistency in the reasons for stopping people accessing their own money.

With many people being frozen out of the accounts, some for months the potential for internal fraud must be enormous.

I personally have closed my English RBS account and moved to a Scottish branch because I have no intention whatsover of letting Santander near my money.

What this thread and others indicate is that there is no limit on the amount of hassle you can buy for £100.
