  • the guy finally has the parcels after nearly 3 months. i have been offered my money back and £25 credit with them as compensation.
the thing is that i never want to use them again after this whole sorry mess and that doesnt cover the 20 or so hours of my time spent emailing, live chatting, phone calls etc and the cost to me for making calls either.

    should i take it?

If you want maximum revenge on the company, use the credit fully, but no more, and then never use them again.

And while I'm here, concerning the comment further up that most customers of courier companies are happy and only the unhappy post online, that's a distraction argument. Couriers should never give service as bad as what we see here. I've more or less given up on couriers because of repeated bad service from a number of companies. So I have to carefully choose what I buy so that things are sent Royal Mail, where at least I can pick up from the depot.

Imagine if Cadburys had systematic failures so that 1/100 of their chocolate bars was actually filled with solid earth, rather than chocolate. You couldn't say that "99% of customers are happy, and so therefore it's a good product".

And, from my own experience, the failure rate for couriers is much, much, higher than 1%.

In my opinion courier deliveries in this country are broken. There's a race to the bottom concerning price, and service levels have dropped. Companies that would provide a good service have been undercut by the awful companies, and now previously reliable companies are having to match them, and can only afford to give awful* service.

*awful here means an unacceptably high failure rate, not that every parcel delivery is awful.

If you go to parcelforum.co.uk, you'll find actually couriers discussing what they do, and you can see the disconnect between service promised by companies, and what the couriers feel they can do for 45p to 60p a parcel.
  • Three years on from this post things don't seem to have improved. I have used P2G to have a parcel delivered via DHL. The problem started when the DHL tracking info described it as 'Damaged'. I contacted P2G and that's where the problem started. They advised me to claim for damages within 2 weeks (yes, 2 weeks now - down from 28 days!). To cut a long and very frustrating story short, they ignored me, stalled, told me the item had been delivered to me and that it wasn't damaged etc.etc. I contacted them every day for two weeks to no avail. It is now about a month later and I still haven't received a claims form. Unfortunately as I'm over the two weeks I don't see any way of claiming now even though I did pay for insurance!
I think I'll go to trading standards...
