    for crying out loud...

can we not have one thread where those with nothing nice to say just say nowt??

BLT you only ever seem to kick in with something negative- really, why bother???

Oh dear, am I not subscribing to the majority view - damn and I thought we lived in a democracy.

I think it's great that the kids get a present, I just feel there are more needy causes that could be supported.
  • hi can someone tell me if there is a way you can get the toy without and email cause the army havn;t got my email and i really dnt want my boys losing out with there daddy being away as it is.

    Some people make me fume!

Yes our military are in full time employment, yes they do get a bonus for serving in a war zone. But do you think that makes up for turning a childs life upside down?
Have you spent time with a child whos Daddy is away for 6 months, who cries herself to sleep, sees her friends Daddys pick them up from school or watch them in a school play, and wonder what she has done wrong and why her Daddy can't be there?

I fully appreciate the situation people find themselves in due to unemployment and those who has been made redundant, but that child in that household has the stability of their parents being there.

Our forces kids don't get enough help, so such a lovely gesture to them to show they are being thought about, their parents make huge sacrifices, we all know some don't come home.

I thank the companies taking part I think it is a fantastic scheme. My hubby will thankfully be home for Christmas this year after serving 6 months in Afghanistan.

You could say we have put ourselves in this situation, he doesn't have to serve, he choose to continue after having a family. Yes, all true, but without men and women like him where would we be?

    Rant over.

I was that child, with father away in the Navy for extended periods including two wars. (Mother also served before kids).

Sorry, but I tend to agree with those who feel that this is a PR stunt and there are better causes. My father may have been away but hey ho, that's the life of a military family.

Emailed the NOTW a week ago re - the email they are sending out and not being able to receive it - had no reply yet?! Might be worth giving them a call, I'm sure not every soldier/airman etc has access to his emails if they are currently away on deployment

Just to update - just gave them a call and you will NOT be able to enter unless you have received the email as it contains the unique promotional code. I was told that there is nothing further they can do their end, they suggested speaking to the MOD to try and get the email forwarded. I am just going to try and get a collegue to access his emails for me from his base in the UK.
  • Thanks Ruthem215 . My OH is off to Afghan next week for a few months and he has looked on his intranet and found nothing. No-one seems to know anything and he has no emails. I have asked him to dig a bit deeper and see what he can find.

There may well be better causes, we could be here along time if we would like to list them all, however that wasn't my point, I am sick of small minded people thinking they know everything about military life when half of them have no flamin idea of the true situation.
They rabbit on about housing, wages, allowances, pensions and actually they don't know a great deal about any of it.

    Son of an officer?;)
  • Can anyone in the forces confirm they have received this email and if so how did they receive it?? Mil or Civ email address??

    Cheers
