what is the average electricity consumption per quarter/year/ week for studio flat

Options
Hello Everyone

I live in a small studio flat( single occupancy) and I have economy 7. I want to know what the average electricity consumption per quarter/year/ week is for a studio flat. The reason I ask is that I have just received a bill for almost £300. It is for a quarter and it covers 8 July to 6 October. Since October 2009. The storage heater was not on during this period. I have been receiving estimated bills, so I am aware that this bill will cover any shortfall. If that makes sense. However, I still think it is too high. I have spoken to EDF and they have told me to do a seven day reading and they will take it from there. On the bill my average usage per day is 26.91kw. Is this right? Last year the bill covering roughly the same period with a reading provided by me was 3.12 units per day. I have a small water tank which I only turn on when I want hot water. A fan heater in the bathroom which is hardly ever used and a electric shower and the usual household appliances. I have also received similar bill in the past that covered winter, I did question it. I have always felt that my bills were too high but EDF won't have any of it.

Could the metre reader be faulty? I have a digital metre reader. I carried out two tests. I turned off the power supply at the mains for 30 minutes( 11.30-12 pm) the LED light remained on. I did another test a few hours later. Power supply was off for two hours ( 2pm 4pm) and the LED lights were still on. I also noticed that the digit on the far right was moving. I live in a converted house and have two three neighbours

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi TorieTee - With your £300 bill including a catch-up element on previous under estimated bills, no one can give positive answers as to your power use, but you mention 'this time last year' so you do have a record of a full years billing - either add up the bills for your annual DAY & NIGHT consumptions or ask your supplier for them, then post them here for comment

Meanwhile you mention only heating the Hot Water when you need it. ECO7 is usually designed to Heat your water tank overnight using cheap power, but if you switch it on during the day you will be using expensive Daytime power which costs a lot more then power from an ordinary Standard meter
    Also
That electric shower, unless it's used in the wee small hours of the morning, will be burning any thing between 7Kwh to 9Kwh of expensive Daytime power - Far better to take a bath with that overnight heated Hot Water
