do you want to get onto live to play online? or just to download demos. To use live for gaming you need to get a Live Gold membership which can be purchased through microsoft or any place you get xbox360 games.

You need to have the xbox plugged into the modem if possible or otherwise connected through your pc/laptop if there is only one port on the modem. Some modems also require some of the ports to be forwarded to the xbox. When setting up the 360 for the first time there is a good walk through and it does tests on the connection for you to trouble shoot. Good luck

Hi thanks for the quick reply

well at the moment i just want to get onto xbox live, for teh demos and just check it out

which cable would i need to join my xbox to the ntl modem
  • It would be nice to know the model of the modem. If it is a router/gateway that has RJ45 sockets all you need is a patch networking cable, however you can still use a cross-over networking cable. There are no advantages with one over the other, so you could got for the crossover because you can all so use it as a direct link from one pc to another.

yeah, just plug in the ethernet cable into your xbox 360 rj45 socket and the other end into your modem rj45 socket, I dont know if you will be able to download demos and use your pc on the internet at the same time.

You can get the cable at pcworld/currys/dixon etc and can be a cross-over type cable or just a straight through patch. Work out the length you need to go between the modem and the 360 and get at least that length cable. You should still be able to surf the net on the pc at the same time as getting demo's on the 360. Good luck and let us know how it goes
