Help - my MIL has seen (probably on some shopping channel) a device which lets you transfer up to 48 hours of vhs video onto some sort of chip. Apparently you can then plug the 'chip' directly into the tv to watch the videos.
This would be ideal for them as they've got loads of video tapes that they could get rid of but I have got no idea what she's talking about!!
I've tried googling but can only find things that transfer to dvd or pc not a 'chip'.
Oh and it costs £29.99 if that's any help at all!
Does anyone know what this magic chip thingy is?

The chip might be just a normal USB stick, no idea what the device is though.0 -
I'm assuming it's this...

You must plug an SD card in (up to 32gb) and it records from the VCR (or other composite device) straight to the SD card.
Bear in mind that 32gb gives between 24-48 hours of recording time. She would either have to buy another SD card or transfer the files to a computer.
A 32gb SD card on it's own is around £40. Obviously, smaller capacitys are cheaper. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

Thanks - I think that's what she's talking about. It's not clear on the website but how do you watch the stuff from the SD card? Can you plug the box into the tv and watch it from there ordoes it have to be on a computer?xxx Nikki xxx0

From the picture it looks like it has Play/Pause buttons, so assume you can watch it on the TV?? Don't quote me on that though! It's quite hard to tell and the description on the website doesn't help much!
I think in reality it is intended for the clips to be watched on a computer. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

If they are commercial video's, copy protection might scupper the idea
If they are home videos, burning them to dvd might be safer.!!
