Suggest that you escalate and complain to John Browett, Chief Executive Dixons Group / Currys / PC World via sending him an email at john.browett@dixons.co.uk.

Good luck and hope this helps.:)
Excellent advice from Mark and his google agility again

We bought our 12year old a netbook from curry last year for xmas and within 2 weeks it wasn't working we went back to store and they didn't want to do much about it plus when they were looking at it in store it started to work (how annoying is it when that happens!!) took it home and it happened again this time rang tech guys as we had it covered and they arranged for it to be collected and looked at but when it cameback they said it was working fine!! it stopped working for a third time and my oh exploded and rang and e-mailed head office to complain he must av got someone on a good day cos they said to take it back into store it was bought from for an exchange which we of course did but be got her a different make and model and touch wood its been fine since.
Currys riled my oh so much though that now he won't shop there anymore whether they are cheaper or not he hated their customer service.

got to say think on this one they've done ok, as there is now a lot of people who do try it on they do have the right to confirm its not working.

It's things like this that really annoy me. If you have an intermittent fault and you can't prove it to the company yet they STILL replace it, for you to then go off and shop elsewhere!
It's any wonder why shops are getting rid of their own return policies and only doing what the law tells them to. Gone are the days of companies going over and above what they need to do!

I'm starting to be of the opinion that people should have to pass a test before they're allowed to buy anything electrical, or better yet, before they're allowed to leave the house and interact with people.

One of my colleagues who is a great guy all round and goes out of his way to help people (also happens to be my best friend XD) was looking at a computer somebody bought back as faulty. The keyboard was acting odd in that it was supplementing the letters typed for other letters. It was running slowly and kept bringing up error messages when you tried to open programs.

It had no antivirus protection on it and the hardware itself was working fine, so he explained to the customer that it looked like it may be a virus problem and that it'd be worth downloading avast, rebooting into safe mode, installing and seeing if it'll pick up the virus.

The customer demanded we did it for them (no chance) and didn't see why they should have to install an antivirus program when the laptop was "clearly not fit for purpose."

My colleague said that we could send it away for repair but if it wasn't a hardware fault, they'd be charged because viruses aren't covered under warranty.

Cue the customer going off on a rant because they failed to see why the warranty wouldn't have covered their own carelessness. They DID have the option to buy the "accidental damage" cover at the time of purchase, which they chose not to buy, so it's their own fault all round.

When people go into a shop, they should switch on their objectivity rather than spouting impossible demands and expecting miracles when a reasonable option is suggested.
