Hmmmmmmmmm Gas Hob Issue

Hello Folks
In my kitchen I have a Belling Gas Hob (GHU567 or 9). About 10 mins ago for some reason the ignitors began firing by themselves. Its continuous on all 4 burners and its every 2s.
The hob behaved normally this morning when I made porridge and this evening when I boiled a pan of potatoes.
The gas is off, I haven't knocked the hob, I haven't done it by fastidious cleaning ( as I wiped it down yesterday).
Apart from turning the power off (I have tried this in the vain hope that a reboot might work, it didn't though I will shortly turn the power off as the ticking is annoying), is there anything else that I can try before I'm forced to admit defeat and call an "engineer"?
Look forward to your replies

Is there a button or switch that you press to spark the igniters?
Has this stuck in the on position?0 -
Hello Avoriaz
I've done all the visual checks. Nothing appears untoward but I will remove all the switches give a quick clean and reapply. I'll post back later with the results.

remember to switch it off before you check it out so it doesn't zap you.;)
You might have managed to shove a bit of oil or greasy stuff into the connection when you cleaned up yesterday, or maybe the switch has gone.
Something is making the connection and my best guess would be the switch, there's nothing in the cupboard underneath shorting it out is there?:eek:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Ok. The problem is solved. If would appear that one or more of the ignitors was stuck in an "On" position. A removal, clean and re-position sorted that out. Don't know how it happened, obviously it must have been me as there is only me in the house and I don't have poltergeists. Will be more careful in the future.
