I have oily eyelids. On one hand it's Yaaaaay! because I've never needed eye cream, but on the other hand it's Booooo! because I have to be careful with eyeliners and mascaras.
My teenage daughter inherited the oily eyelids but when she complains I tell her that it could have been worse, and she could have inherited the legs - the sheer unbridled horror of that thought shuts her up immediately.
Plus of course I have recently come to know the joy of the hot flush, where the bright red heat burning out of my skin nukes all of my make up. Lovely.
My daughter and I both use the same method of keeping eyeliner on:
1) Primer. I use Urban Decay, she uses E.L.F.
2) Seal the primer with face powder or cream or flesh coloured eye shadow
3) Apply eyeliner
4) (Optional, for pencil liners) go over the line with similar coloured eyeshadow.
There are quite a few eyeliners that we know work for us.
Number One (in every sense!) is Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner.
They are pricey but what I do is sell a load of stuff we don't need on eBay and then use my Paypal earnings to buy from one of the reliable regular BB eBay sellers.
You can pick them up cheap on eBay, but some are used, some are fake, some are old stock, and some have fallen off the back of a lorry.
You need the real proper ultra fine brush though, some of the fakes are too chunky to do the job. (More money!)
Number Two is probably the Smashbox Cream Eyeliners.
These are easier to find for only a few ££ on eBay because of QVC mainly. You do need a special brush, which is cheaper than BB again. The BB brush works for this as well, or Smashbox do their own slightly different "push" brush design. I prefer the BB one but it's all personal preference.
The others we use are Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pens, Urban Decay 24/7, Mally eyelining system (basically pencil, then powder then eyeshadow), Mally Evercolour pencils, and Jemma Kidd Define Stay Put Eyeliner.
I also like Clinique Cream Shapers but my daughter doesn't rate them for longevity. She really likes Laura Geller I care eyeliners which I agree stay put but they're not my favourite. She has some Bourjois Metallise pencils and L'Oreal HiP pencils which she's also fond of using, but I've never tried those myself.

thank you so much everyone !! i have to look around and see now... so far bought the Revlon colorstay eye pencil... it did not stay on... only lasted 2-3 hours... i think i will leave it !! only wearing mascara should be enough hahahhahaMejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0

Definately think about trying an eye primer as others have already suggested - without it, if you do have oily eyelids I don't think you'll ever really find anything that stays put as long as you want it to.
I use Urban Decay Primer Potion and think it's amazing - yes it's a bit pricy but it makes cheaper shadow and liners go on, and stay on, much better which to me makes it worth it. Plus there are offers around which can make the price a bit more reasonable e.g. it's included in Boots' 3 for 2 on cosmetics at the moment.

The lady at the Benefit counter tried their version (can't remember what it's called) out on me the other day before using some of their shadows, and it wasn't nearly as good as the Urban Decay one. Haven't tried ELF but have heard good things about them generally so could be worth a try.
For what it's worth, I have oily eyelids and have been using Rimmel eyeliner pencils for years - they smudge really nicely for a smoky look but then seem to stay put pretty well through the day. Can't help with gel or liquid liners as I can't seem to get the hang of them so don't have much experience!0 -

My mascara always smudges, always has done:(
I thought it was down to contact lenses.

I have always struggled with it, I can't even get pencil on properly because it doesn't draw on. What I did was bought an eyeliner brush and just use a really dark eyeshadow as eyeliner. I tried the other night with a different colour as an eyeliner but it didn't shout out much
so I shall continue to experiment. I'm getting more confident and being able to get proper thick lines (sounds bad but I mean Audrey Hepburn stylee!) would be great.

I have this problem and I find Rimmel eyebrow pencil great for eyeliner as it doesn't melt like eyeliner does.0

I don't seem to have this problem which I find odd as I go to the gym with eyeliner and mascara on (not worn especially for the gym btw!) I never see the liner smudge or smear unless I have a tiisue and rub at my eyes with force (which I don't tend to do).
I use one of the following eyeliners:
Bobbi Brown Gel Liner
Bojours Clubbing liner
Rimmel Liner.
I can say the Bobbi Brown has got to be the easiest liner to apply, no second attempt needed as it applies beautifuly.
The Bojours does not come off via smudging its one of those that needs a designated eye makeup remover or elbow grease to remove and is the one least likely to smear off IMO.
The Rimmel is another good option and slightly cheaper, I'd use this with an eye shadow or base underneath it.
I would also try applying, waiting for a few minutes, applying a translusent powder or Mac neutral shadow over and then reapplying the liner. I hope you find something which works for you.0 -
Benefit ;"Stay don't Stray" is what you need. It's designed as an eyelid primer, Lemon Aid uses the word primer in its description but its primary function is as a colour correcting concealer.Norn Iron Club member 4730

Oily eyelids?
What can I do?
Watery eyes can smudge mascara, but oil is more likely with most of today's formulations.
What works for me is to avoid eye cream in the daytime and to take my eyeshadow primer and flesh coloured eye shadow a bit further down and out at the outer corner of my eye to encompass the area where my mascara can sometimes smudge.
Having said that I haven't had even a hint of a mascara smudge since I've been using Estee Lauder Doublewear mascara. It makes my eyelashes stiff which I don't really like but it doesn't ever smudge.
I ever so slightly prefer Bobbi Brown Extreme Party Mascara, which doesn't smudge on me, but stays flexible and gives a prettier lash effect in my opinion - but I'm trying to be good and not buy any more until I've used up what I've got!Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. I used to use liquid eyeliner all the time - I wear contact lenses and my eyes do tend to be a bit watery & sensitive. I liked the M&S liquid penliner, cheap and not tested on animals. I've also had great success with the Gosh eyepencils, which I then 'set' with a light line of same coloured powder eyeshadow on top.0
