Plus have no idea on insurance groups - for a reasonably sized car (not a supermini), say one of your used BMW 1 series ...
hatchback or station wagon, how much would it cost approximately for London per year?
(not garaged, but off street parking if that makes a difference and I have max. no claim bonus).
We are trying to work out the approximate running costs.

In a similar situation, my insurance is £520 on a 118d, driving ~18k miles a year with business cover and protected no claims.
  • If you get a Nissan under 3 years old, thus whilst still in the original warranty, then you can get a very good warranty extension online from Nissan for another 2 years. If you are outside this 3 year period, the cost rises dramatically. I would certainly consider this and would look to see whether other manufacturers do the same.

Or just buy a Hyundai that is 3 years old, it will still have 2 years free warranty with it.;)

I am in London, off street parking but assume it's always more to insure in London?
  • If you are going to buy a car then you should consider following points:

    - Decide on budget beforehand
    - Determine preferred car category
    - Get recommendations
    - Shop around for financing
    - Dashboard controls, Acceleration etc should be checked at the time to test drive.
