Do you shred letters?

Cross cut shredder. Everything with our name and/or address on goes into it, even envelopes. Then the shreddings go into the compost."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Yep, always shred letters with full name and address0

Honestly I don't think many lock smiths would want to see proof of name and address.
If a letter has my name and address on and nothing else about me I don't shred it. My name and address is on the electoral register for anyone to see so I don't see the point in shredding letters that have that information. A lot of letters from my bank go into the recycling because they don't include my account number.0 -
As with other people all my documents get burned. Is a Bipolar bear0

Anything with a name and address or even just address i just shread it, the rest i recycle
its common sense to shred letters is it not0 -
I hardly ever chuck letters! Stuff like bills, bank statements I keep safe. Any junk mail from banks and other places usually go into the regular bin amongst the other rubbish, but sometimes I tear the the personal info off and put it into recycling bin. I've got a hand shredder but its a bit rubbish!0

I just rip them up and put them in the recycling. I'll worry about the consequences if anything ever happens.0

Why? Anyone could find that information on the electoral register if they wanted to.
If there was a letter with a name and address on it, people with bad intentions could get up to all sorts of nasties with it. They could even join the library with one proof of address!
I normally hoard the personal details bits of letters for a few weeks then soak them in a bowl of hot water for a bit. Turns them to mush and when it dries it's an unreadable lump of paper.0 -

But those people could just as easily print their own letter with your name and address on, why would they go to the effort of digging around in your wheelie bin when they could produce one on their own printer from the comfort of their own home?0
