My daughter insured through Hastings. During the policy she changed cars, so moved ins over to new car. She later found out that for a week she wasn't insured due to a clerical error!
Hastings appologised and sent her a cheque for £10 for her troubles.
Think it may have cost her more than that had the police pulled her over.
Next, they wanted proof of her driving license, so we sent those details. Then they couldn't access DVLA records for her details, so permission to do that was sent. All ok you would have thought.
Next though, a letter dropped on the mat informing her that her premium was going up by £66.
She asked why and got the reply that she'd had a non-accident claim. Whats that I hear you ask, well she had a chip repaired on her windscreen. Free, you think, not with Hastings it aint.
£31 for the repair then another £35 for the admin work.
Rip off or what, you have been warned.
Tried to cancel insurance but was told that would cost another £87 !!!!:(

She will have been asked if she had made any claims (ie. not just any accident claims) when applying for the insurance, by saying "no" they were mislead and quoted accordingly.
When she was asked repeatedly about her driving licence that should have been the clue to you that they were checking closely what she had told them!
Instead of posting about poor service from your insurer it would be more helpful if you had posted that we need to remember to declare all claims or else face increased charges when we get found out! (She would have saved the £35 admin element in the £66 if she had been truthful in the first place)
The so called "free" windscreen repairs aren't free at all, but get paid for via all our premiums! Surely you would see that those that make use of the "free" repair should get a premium loading for it against those that don't?0
