Insurance

Options
Hey,

I was wondering, if I was to become the main driver on my mums insurance policy halfway through the term would I accumulate the NCD?

My mum and I share the driving, so legally it would be all correct. I was just wondering whether it would be beneficial to me, by having the no claims, or not.

Cheers in advance.

  • Only the policy holder accumalates proper NCD - and then only for each full year of insurance.

I'll leave someone else to talk about fronting....

Has your mum told her insurance company you use the vehicle for at least 50% of the time? She must do this if you want to ensure that you are properly covered.

It sounds as if this is a fronted policy e.g. insuring in your mum's name with her down as the main driver so that you are saving on the insurance premium.

It will only be "legally correct" if the insurers have been made aware of the full facts and are charging the appropriate premium. I am assuming that you are a young driver.
