Problems with avira 10

I've tried to update avira from version 9 to 10 by dowloading the file avira_antivir_personal_en.zip (following the linky in the avira popup) and am not sure what to do next as it's not an executable file?

You need to download winzip or winrar thats even better

GOOGLE WINRAR IT COMES UP FIRST

just out of interest where did you get the download link from it looks a bit suspect for a antivirus to update with a zip file. normally they are automatic is it definatley from a trusted source

It's the link on cnet and the avira updater popup - even when unzipped there was no obvious clicky installation button and no instructions on how to unpack.

thanks for your help fiddiewebb, the exe file worked fine, wonder why the zipped file is being offered instead?

NB, just checked the avira site and the exe file is there for download too?

Just to be on the safe side I would download Malwarebytes and run a quick scan.
When you have downloaded the latest version of Malwarebytes, open it and update it first before running a scan.
Make sure that you tick the boxes for any problems Malwarebytes finds after scanning and remove them.
If there is anything found please post the log file in your next message.
