    So let me get this right..Someone is trying to get a job and is asking for any advice or help and the best that people can manage is cheap shots and being rude..Rather then being happy that someone is trying to get out of the benefit trap and earn their own living it is clearly better to shoot them down and treat them like the lowest of the low...........nice

    Can't help Stu but good luck and well done for getting this far
    There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
    So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

  • Sounds very positive to me, will probably be a few people talking about the business, and how they treat staff. Should be a definite job if you show willing, good luck :)

    More likely poor hygiene, obesity and how not to speak politely.
    Greggs employ the lowest of the low.

    get a grip
    the lowest of the low spend their time buying greggs and avoiding work
    the folks working in greggs are just trying to get by
    show them the respect they deserve

    Anyone been on one of these? Been asked to attend this on behalf of BTCV (flexible new deal program). According to the email I've recived today it could be a chance of a job at the end of the day so it sounds very promising for me :j

    I would expect it to be a standard 'have a look at you day'
    they will want to see if you are presentable and can speak english etc
    check if you have previous food handling experience etc
    they will need to give you a basic hygiene course before starting

    I know they are based up here in the NE, but I have never heard of the 'awareness/vetting' day to be honest.

    As an aside, a Greggs sausage roll up here is affectionately called a 'Geordie Dummy'.

    This is due to the fact that all of the teenage chavs with kids in pushchairs believe that just by pushing one of the aforementioned delicacies into the sprogs gob constitutes an effective way of stopping them crying.

    When I was told this I laughed - but following observations, I found it to be correct.
