Greggs Bakery Awareness / Vetting Day

Anyone been on one of these? Been asked to attend this on behalf of BTCV (flexible new deal program). According to the email I've recived today it could be a chance of a job at the end of the day so it sounds very promising for me :j

  • Awareness - of what - sausage rolls and a custard slice?
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • More likely poor hygiene, obesity and how not to speak politely.
Greggs employ the lowest of the low.
  • That's not very kind. Sorry OP, I don't know anything about them but good luck

    Quite so.

Actually, looking at the er.... 'wit and wisdom' of some of Mr Redundant's other posts, they remind me of another attention seeking inadequate and (internet only) hard case by the name of Anihilator, who was banned not so long ago for the umpteenth time. I do hope I am mistaken.

To the OP - good luck :D

Nonsense. Their customers are lowlier than the staff.
  • Jees! Since when did buying or selling pasties make you such a bad person?

I have to say that some of my poorest customer experiences have been in Greggs. recently I asked for a bacon and sausage roll - one of their 'breakfast rolls'. I was handed a pastry sausage roll by a surly assistant. I said that I'd asked for a bacon and sausage roll, and pointed to the large display poster behind her at eye level. With an even less polite and gracious manner I was literally thrown the thing. "could I have some brown sauce on that please?" And she snatched it back. 5 minutes later I unwrapped the thing and bit into... a mouthful of tomato ketchup. By that stage I was too fed up to go back and complain.

I mean it's not exactly difficult stuff: listening to what the customer asks for, then serving them the correct goods and being polite. I never ever treat my customers like cockroaches, so I don't expect to be treated as one by somebody who has clearly forgotten page one of any face-to-face retail/customer service training, which is "Whilst you're in uniform and at work, you're the face of the company for every single customer."
