  • Halifax car insurance is really BISL. After selling her car my daughter has been charged £600 for cancelling the policy early. On the Halifax Website (p21) the cancellation fees are daylight robbery. Unless you enjoy being mugged do not insure your car with Halifax or BISL.

    Read the FOS stance on cancellation fees.

    The view is broadly pro rata for time on cover plus an admin fee of up to £50.

    That seems reasonable & fair to me but if you are being charged significantly more than this then complain and if not sorted refer to the FOS



    edited to add: Just looked at the cancellation costs page 21, they certainly look unreasonable to me and if I was you I'd certainly be complaining. If she had any of the add ons which don't get any refund on cancellation I'd include those in the complaint too
