Hi,

In simple terms is it cost effective to switch from Websaver 6 to 10? I use British Gas for both gas and electricity. Or for that matter any schemes that British Gas offer, which would potentially save me some money.

Thanks

What does it say when you put your annual consumption figures into a comparison site?

bear in mind that they may not yet have factored in the 7% rise.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • Isn't the difference between web6 and web10 minimal? Paying £60 to get out of it i'm pretty sure isn't going to make it even remotely worthwhile, i could ofcourse be wrong though.
  • Yellowcard, you could be right. I just got the message about the rate rise and am trying to figure out the best course of action, if any.

If i were you i'd call BG and request the rates for web6 and web10, would only be a quick call and atleast then you'll know!

I hate to state the obvious, but have you looked up the price per unit for websaver 6 and 10?

I remeber doing so recently, and i found websaver 10 significantly more expensive than 6 for economy 7, electricity only.

You may be interested in the price rise for my electricity coming on 10 dec.

My day units are risisng by 10.6% (gulp), night units by 5.66%, and the number of days of tier 1 rising from 600 to 720 pa. So while it may (by ncoincidence) equate to the published 7% rise, the rise is quite different on different elements of the bill.

We can expect many more rises well above inflation and well above their input costs over the coming years as the costs of the many green schemes are passed into our bills.
  • 1socrates1 stick where you are!!

For both gas and electric (and e7 ele as stated above) are more expensive on web10, i checked gas and ele earlier today and whilst the tier 1 rate for both was the same the tier 2 rate was higher and would increase your bills!
Aslo in constrast to my earlier post you could leave the tariff without any cancellation fees if you chose to do so for any reason.
  • Yellowcard

I have jsut checked the T&Cs for my websaver 6 contract which clearly states that cancellation charges only apply if you cancel before 1st August 2010. So looks like 1socrates1 should be in the clear on that one.
  • how are you on websaver 6 if it ended earlier this year?
