Help with funding for a powered wheelchair

Hi

I have submitted my claim for DLA am am still waiting for my letter back.
I know about the motability scheme if you get a certain rate of DLA.

Is there any other scheme out there to help with funding. I have seen the details of National Mobility Hire can anyone give me some information.

    The NHS provide powerchairs as well as manual chairs, both are provided for me.

    Dont whatever you do get one from motability, they charge top whack and have high intrest rates.

    My son, then aged nine, was offered a powered wheelchair by the NHS - despite having learning difficulties! I opted for a manual chair, for his safety and for that of everyone who might otherwise come into his path :D

    Ask your doctor for a referral to the Wheelchair assessment Unit at the hospital to see what they can offer you.
