Laptop has line on screen

Hi all. I just turned my laptop on to find a line going from one side of the screen to the other. Ive turned it off and on but its still there. Any ideas

Defect in the screen. Replacing the screen is the only option other than living with it.0

rule out the graphics card, if you can plug the laptop into a normal computer monitor (that you know is working OK) and you get the same line, then your graphics card may be faulty.
If the monitor is OK, then you could try updating the graphic card drivers - which would be a long shot really.
Otherwise the laptop screen is probably faulty and needs replacing.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
I had this on a Dell after the screen had been replaced! It was a matter of screen positioning/partial shorting out. Repositioning fixed it. So in my view is it could either be a faulty screen or that its position has slipped slightly.0
