Hotel suggestions for Venice and Treviso

Hey All

Has anyone got any suggestions of hotels in Venice and Treviso?

The girlfriend and I are heading over there for a Rugby game in early May 2011. We are flying out early on the Friday and home again on Monday. We don't know what day the game is on yet just that it is that weekend and the game will be played in Treviso and we fly in to Venice.

Our accommodation arrangements will depend on when the game is. If the game is on Friday night at 7:30 then we thought we would stay in Treviso the Friday night and then two nights in Venice or if the game is Saturday afternoon then stay three nights in Venice and just travel to the game on Saturday.

Neither of us have been to Venice or Treviso before so have no idea where is the best area to stay in that is close to the main sites etc. Don't really fancy anything out in the sticks.

Would say that our budget is around £300 for the accommodation for the three nights on the trip.

Cheers
Muz

    Hi,
We've stayed at Hotel Antiche Figure in Venice, excellent value and only a couple of minutes walk from where the airport buses drop you off, over one bridge, and just across the Grand canal from the train station. Easy to get public transport into Treviso. We found it on tripadvisor, and I've just had a look and its still up at number 4 out of 451 hotels in Venice. I think we paid about £85 a night in Feb, but tripadvisor is a good place to look for the best rates for your dates - for there or other hotels.
I'd defo recommend staying in Venice rather than Treviso if it fits with the match times (or even if it doesn't!)

Hotel Abbazia has good reviews on tripadvisor and not overly expensive. Not sure how you get to Treviso for game, but the Abbazia is close to the train station if that helps.

We stayed at the American-Dinesen hotel - in one of their Depedance apartments when we were there in July. Would recommend. Currently no 34 on Tripadvisor.
