Moving a car with a SORN
I have my car parked at a local garage, it is beyond repair and we have since purchased a new one. We have been trying to scrap it (with no luck) and the garage contacted me to say that it was taking up space and needed to be moved. The tax has run out on it and I do have a SORN. Am I therefore allowed to move it to where I live (3 mins down the road)?
Thanks

Legally, the answer is no, but it could be moved to an off road location via a car transporter.0

Trailer or recovery truck to be legal.
Do the garage not have the facility to move it?
Why can you not scrap it? A scrapyard will collect it and usually give you money for it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Get it to a scrap yard and you should get £80/£120 depending on the carBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

A car breaker ( as opposed to a scrapyard ) should collect the car and issue a certificate of destruction to the DVLA, they should also pay you for the car, my local breaker is paying £80 collected at the moment.0

if you only get £80 you are getting ripped off, i got £125 for a corsa last month, and depending on where you live a car breakers is the same as a scrappy/scrapyard but you are right about the 'eol' end of life certificate.a car breaker ( as opposed to a scrapyard ) should collect the car and issue a certificate of destruction to the dvla, they should also pay you for the car, my local breaker is paying £80 collected at the moment.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
if you want to keep it it can be legally (in the sense of without MOT & Tax) as long as it's on the way to a prearranged MOT.
If you want to scrap it just ring round your local yards and see who'll collect and give you the most0
