Complete plumbing quote advice needed

Hi there, doing up my victorian terrace circa 1910 i've had 2 quotes for 5k recently from 2 separate guys both registered plumbers able to do the lead replacement scheme with United Utilities replacing water mains pipework, also got them to quote for a vaillant ecotech boiler and 6 rads and valves and all fitting, fitting a second hand yeoman exmoor gas stove and flue, all pipework into bathroom and kitchen and was wondering if anyone thought this way a bit high? i know prices of copper has risen sharply but blimey!
Also would like some advice on dpc and what to do afterwards once injections have been done....so do i get the drylining done or membrane with dryline option, or sand and cement with salt retarder and waterproofer instead? Do i also need to wait a year until the walls have dried out if i sand/cement?- they arent that bad had the usual surveyor with the good old damp meter hedging his bets recommending specialist reports etc. Going to put in more air vents under bay window and to rear and gable sides subfloor just in case too.
Any help would be much appreciated for this damsel!

If you've had two independent quotes running out at the same(ish) price theres a fair chance that its not far off. Don't forget that they have seen the job and anyone who comments on here hasn't so any guestimate is just that.Hi there, doing up my victorian terrace circa 1910 i've had 2 quotes for 5k recently from 2 separate guys both registered plumbers able to do the lead replacement scheme with United Utilities replacing water mains pipework, also got them to quote for a vaillant ecotech boiler and 6 rads and valves and all fitting, fitting a second hand yeoman exmoor gas stove and flue, all pipework into bathroom and kitchen and was wondering if anyone thought this way a bit high? i know prices of copper has risen sharply but blimey!
However, without more detail its difficult to tell but I would hazard a guess that you are prolly talking 3½ - 4 net for that scope. Do these prices include the dreaded? With VAT @ 17½% until Jan then 20% thereafter £1k of your price disappears to the govment straight away.
Suggest you get a third quote and see how it compares. If its around the same either they are ganging up on you (highly unlikely) or its the right price for your job (very likely).
Oh you'll get some choice comments about that once the resident damp experts on here get their teeth into it......they arent that bad had the usual surveyor with the good old damp meter hedging his bets recommending specialist reports etc.

On the face of it that sounds very reasonable.
You probably won't get much change out of £4k inc vat for the full ch system on its own.0 -
thanks for youre replies guys yes ive done some more research and ive narrowed down the boiler search to either a Vaillant or more likely a Veissman german reliable parts available readily in UK stainless steel heat exchanger etc etc plus a 10 yr warranty on it - a boiler is like the heart of a home something that should take careful consideration and a fair wedge of a refurb budget! What do you reckon?? cheers...0

Split the job down. Don't give it all out at once. That way, if you do pick a nomark, you have an early escape.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
