  • refund and hope RM to give you stamps as compensation
  • I offered the gentleman a refund and he refused it saying he wanted his items that he paid for, I explained i was a private seller and just getting rid of some unneeded items but that I had some spare stuff that was very similar. He agreed that he wanted this so I sent it recorded delivery. He is now unhappy with the colour of the items and sent a long wordy letter of comp-laint to me. I have offered him his money back again which he has now accepted. My question is this now, Do I refund the original 99p sale or is entitled to this plus the £10.00 p&p of which I have now spent a total of £17.00. I am still not convinced this gentleman didn't receive the first package and feel quite aggreived although I have been more than polite in my responses to him.

In my opinion you should refund every penny he gave you. It sounds dodgy and he may well have the original, the replacement and a full refund, but what can you do, if you have no proof of postage. I personally wouldnt have sent the second item. I'd add him to my blocked bidders just in case.

Put it down to experience and move on. The majority of ebayers are good people.

Make sure he sends your items back, recorded, at his cost, before you give him a refund, £10.99.

Give him refund of £10.99 once you have item sent back (I presume you described it accurately to him before him agreeing to item rather than refund?), then use your proof of postage to claim for lost item from post office.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Thanks for all your responses, I did give him adequate opportunity to respond and accept a refund, I also gave him over a week at the beginning of the sale to pay for his item that he had won, I then gave full details of the items I was going to send him. I will send him the refund once I receive the goods back however I am fully expecting them to go 'missing in the post'. The man is a numpty and I will be blocking him when this has been sorted out but I would like to know how to warn others of his numptiness. Sorry for the rant and I know other people are perfectly honest on ebay. Thankfully it wasn't a large sum of money and for that I am grateful. Im sure anyone who got to read the emails he has sent me would also get slightly wound up as it is not like me, I'm normally very calm and accepting of numpties.
