Blocking out noise

Hi, am wondering if anyone can give me some advise please.
I live above a bit of a strange guy. He seems to sleep all day and is up all night. Unfortunately, my bedroom is above his living room. Most nights I hear his tv, music and if he's entertaining his lady friend, well I'll leave that noise to your imagination.
What I'm wondering, is there anything we can put on the walls in our bedroom to block it out as I think the noise is coming up through the walls rather than the floor.
Thanks for any advice. X

Your bedroom is above his living room, but you think the noise is coming through the walls? Where do you live, in a house made out of a jenga game??Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Ha. Can see why you think that paddedjohn.
The layout is a bit strange and would be really difficult to explain. The bedroom floor is concrete and on top the concrete is floorboards with a good thick underlay and a good quality carpet. That is the reason I mentioned it coming up through the walls because everything is so clear.0 -
Do you have a fireplace? It could be travelling up through that?
???Egg boxes - although not particularly aesthetically pleasing and you would need lots!!0 -
No, there is not fireplace. Might just have to go with the egg box idea.
