I am taking a company laptop on business for a few weeks. its an old laptop and has Windows media player. unfortunately does not have the correct Codecs to play AVI files.
Company IT wont install the software to play AVi files as its meant to be for company use. but hotel has no English TV so meaning i will be bored death and cant even play a movie.
anyone know of any easy to install Codec/plugin that can be installed on a laptop without Administrator rights?

Try "VLC Portable". It plays almost everything and doesn't need to be installed.0 -
But first ensure that you are allowed to install software - many companies don't allow you to do so and make it a disciplinary if not sacking offence.0

If OP followed tronator's advice he wouldn't be installing software...alanrowell wrote: »But first ensure that you are allowed to install software - many companies don't allow you to do so and make it a disciplinary if not sacking offence.0 -
If PortableApps doesn't work for you; portableapps.com/apps/music_video/vlc_portable then try: nic.dnsalias.com/XviD_Install.exe

That's why I recommended the portable version. I'm a bit surprised that he has admin rights though...0 -
