compact Digital camera needed pref sub £100

Hi guys, I hope this is the right place to ask.....
I need a compact digital camera. I already have a DSLR but this is for sticking in my handbag every day/when space is tight. I want decent picture quality & preferably a rechargeable battery rather than AAs. My last camera was an Olympus & I never really got to grips with it. I am told, but open to new suggestions that it is better to go for a camera brand such as Nikon, Fuji or canon.....
I'm not too worried about bells & whistles so long as my pictures look good.
I would like to spend as little as possible because money is tight, ideally no more than £100 but could go to £150 if persuaded well enough!
Thanks in advance

I'd also go with a decent brand like Canon. Under £100, I would be looking for a second hand model. There's a constant stream of new models coming out with new features to try to justify the pricetags, but the lens and sensor sizes aren't big enough to get in the light needed to take a decent photo. The optics haven't changed much in price, so a camera that was good 3 years ago is pretty comparable to a good one today.
There's some great bargains under £100 on ebay:

I bought this Pentax for £70 a couple of months ago and am really impressed with it for the price: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5594229/c_1/1|category_root|Photography|14419436/c_2/3|15701379|Digital+cameras+and+packages|14419441/c_3/4|cat_14419441|Digital+cameras|14419442.htmI shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

I am also looking for a digital camera under £100. I am very tempted by the Samsung PL201 which is currently £99 at Argos (suposedly half price), and had 7x optical zoom, HD video etc. But can't find any reviews anywhere and also can't find many reviews of any alternative Samsung cameras.
I've had a Casio camera for the last 5 years which I have been very impressed with but it has given up the ghost.0 -

Fuji A235- large clear screen, 12mp (check spec- some model colours have less?!), video too, though controls can be a bit fiddly.
best price when i bought mine was about £42, direct from fuji (memory card bought separate, £7 or so).
