Iomega zip file problem

I have an Iomega Zip backup file 'backup.001' .
I'm trying to get the files off it.
Any ideas? I have an old zip drive but I don't particularly want to install it.
At present the files on a usb stick.

Try intalling iomegaware from iomega's website, it should have a backup restore facility on it.

  • Backup.001 and control.001 files are created by the backup utility at the MS-DOS 5.0 level. I believe Win 3.1 also used that level of DOS. It does not matter what media the files are on at the present, what is important is the utility that created the files. I am having the same problem with a 3-1/2" diskette that I'd like to take a look at! I actually did update my iomegaware from the web site and it does not have any backup/restore facility -- it was done thru the underlying operating system. (I have an internal Zip drive in a Dell 8100 tower system.) I even found another old 3-1/2" diskette that actually has just the MS-DOS 5.0 Backup and Restore files on it. When I tried to "invoke" them using the Cmd prompt on my Win2000 o.s., it told me that I have the wrong operating system level to use the restore utility. Any other ideas of what I could try?
