I'm looking for a Double panel single convector 700Hx600W radiator for my landing to replace an older style double panel radiator. The protrusion from the wall must not be over 100mm, the smaller the better as there is a narrow bathroom door perpendicular to it which the radiator overhangs.

So I would like some recommendations on Radiators, I don't want to be paying more than I have to as my budget is small which is why I will be doing it myself.

I have seen them from about £40 inc delivery but those were over 100mm from Toolstation and for £56.24 Quinn do a compact radiator Double panel plus from plumbtraders which apart from the price is ideal.

Delivery is needed so needs to be included in the price or very close to free delivery if a few extra small items are purchased such as Central heating system Inhibitor.

So does anyone know of any closer to £40 that you can recommend?

Wickes one's are made by quinn too but a cheaper price. I was looking the other day at the quinn rads as i wanted to know the same dimension your interested in! However they appear to be a double set of convectors so will be a little thicker though you do have two options of mounting the rad brackets. I'm after a 900x700 double rad with single convector..was going to buy the wickes one which was on offer but when it came back into stock the offer was over. Probably now going to get a direct replacement Stelrad Elite from discountedheating.co.uk .
The Wickes Rads were nice and I purchased 3 last week from them. I did phone asking if they would order me the Compact+ even if I paid in advance but they said they couldn't. Incidentally, Wickes put up prices recently and the 10% offer on Radiators was still slightly above the price they were charging before the increases. Crafty that is.

Wickes only sell SPSC or DPDC, they don't sell the DP+, the one I wanted. The DP+ only has 1 convector so is thinner at 97mm, the thinnest I've seen.

You can download a Pdf from Quinn to find out all the technical details including dimensions and heat output.

The Myson Select Compact DP+ are as narrow as the Quinn Compact DP+ at 97mm from the wall. Another option if I can find a decent price.
    Have you looked at screwfix?
Yes I have, they don't sell 700H Rads. I have re-checked the existing Rad which is an old DP 760Hx630W and I think I would be better off getting a 600W rather than 700W that I was originally thinking of which will mean it not being so close to the bathroom door. Then increasing the height to 700. The whole upstairs is poorly heated and needs uprating and TRV's fitting.

The cheapest I can find is a Myson Select Compact 700Hx600W @£60.66 delivered from plumbnation. Compared with a Quinn Compact Plus of £64.17@plumbtraders.

    So costs are up :(
  • With regard to your Rad,
discountheating charge extra for delivery at £7.03. Many other companies give free delivery over £50.

Plumbtraders sell the Quinn Compact DP+ 700x900 for £85.67 inc del, a lot less than that Stelrad elite @ £119.52 which is a massive difference. The plumbtraders stelrad elite are slightly cheaper at £124.47 inc del. I have not yet ordered from them so don't know about the company.
  • Is there a reason why you are not getting a DPDC from Wickes, is depth a big issue? Ordering online would get the delivery free. Getting a larger output radiator shouldn't be a problem, larger gives more output when needed in cold weather. TRV's are usually used to control the temperature.

The compact radiators are a lot more expensive. Although the surround which makes them look compact might be able to be removed to make them look like older style radiators.

I ordered some radiator isolation valves to fit to all my radiators because I will need to remove every radiator to re-decorate at some point. Wickes and Homebase sell them but at £18.39 a pair so £18.39 for every radiator (7). So I looked around for a less costly option and found the same things by winburn at £6.90 a pair so a big saving of about £80. So I decided to replace all the valves, most of which needed replacing anyway because they leaked, with the newer compression fitting valves and TRV's to work with the isolation valves. The ones at wickes/homebase do have a version with the older connection fitting but cheaper for me to buy new valves.
