Nhs bursary

Hi All,
Just a quick question.
Could anyone tell me if an NHS Bursary has to be re-paid?
I have always been un der the impression that it is not re-payable.
Daughter has just started nurse training. Someone who works with OH, who's daughter has also just started the same course (but at a different uni), has mentioned to OH that the bursary has to be repaid?
Had a look on the website, but it just mentions it is money to pay uni fees and to cover living costs.
This has worried us slightly, as daughter is a single parent, trying to make a better life for them both. The last thing she needs is the worry of having to pay this back.
Will ring the bursary people tomorrow for clarification, but was hoping someone may be able to put my mind at rest this eve.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

I did my training in 1996-1999 and was paid a NHS bursary. I didn't have to repay mine. It helped pay for my room, food, books, transport between sites etc. I can't see how your daughter can be expected to exsist without it. Maybe your husband's colleague is getting confused with student loans. I'm sure a quick phonecall will clarify your daughters position. I wish her lots of luck.

You don't have to pay the bursary back, I have started to get one for my MA social work course.
