My desktop is running XP Pro.
Would someone please tell me how I can save my emails in outlook express 6 they are contained in several folders including the inbox?
I am about to reformat the computer.
Also how do I start the reformat using the XP disk (if that is correct)?

Have a look here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/270670
Not trying to sound to patronising, but if you are asking about formatting disks etc.. are you sure you want to re-install XP?

The install is now over 4 years an the computer turns it's self off every so often for no apparent reason - was told the operating system is possibly corrupted in some way - unless you have any other ideas.
Is the reformat very complicated I have done Win 98 many times before.0 -

I take your point but I wish to reinstall XP Pro because that what I've got and there is no need to make another costly purchase.0 -
Sounds more like overheating, or a possible failing PSU? Corrupt OS usually results in failure to load Windows at start up, not random shutdowns-or are you getting BSOD's?No free lunch, and no free laptop
