Will I be able to claim compensation? (Virgin Trains)

So, I went down to London (from Carlisle) on Friday night. I was due to arrive at approx. 9:25pm but because of some problems on the way down, I didn't arrive until 10pm. Not too bad I guess...however...
I was returning last night (Sunday) and was due to get on the 5:25pm train back, but we were told to get off the train before it set off as there was signal problems between Milton Keynes and Rugby so no trains were allowed to leave Euston station. Finally at around 6:20pm a few emergency trains were allowed to leave (but had extra stops added on to them for people who's trains had been cancelled). This meant that I didn't arrive at Carlisle untill 10:40pm. By this time I had missed the last train and bus from Carlisle back to the town I live in so had to pay £25 for a taxi!
Anyway, as the title says...will I be able to claim on this?
Sorry if it's long-winded!
Thanks

For the return journey you should be able to claim all the fare (if a single) or half of it (if a return). Outward I don't know what Virgin's cut off is - whether it's a half hour or an hour delay. If it's half an hour you will get part of the fare back, if it's an hour, nothing.
Usually as rail vouchers but you may get cash if you persist.
I doubt if they will pay anything specifically towards the taxi.0 -
write a letter of complaint to virgin trains include your train tickets tell them how disappointed you r that you got stranded at carlisle and out of your own pocket had to pay for a taxi. also state that you couldnt find a station/railway bloke to help you at that time of nite
as stated above u will get vouchers for the late train but ur mite get compo for the taxi
