tesco

Just been to Tesco to change rewards to vouchers, after having to decide what they were been spent on before I could exchange decided on toys . On getting to the checkout was informed Disney Princess torch/projector and High School musical pom poms along with a dolls bottle were not actually classed as toys. Advised to buy a proper toy, checked with supervser still no joy. I also cant buy books or craft stuff as they are not toys so gave up.

I think it is crazy, they should just be generic. I've ordered some evouchers to use and selected toys because I want a certain item. Haven't rec'd them yet and as of today the item I want is out of stock. If it doesn't come back into stock on time I will be forced to buy toys I don't want because of this ridiculous rule.

Did they tell you what they are actually classed as then?

I would take this up with Head office if I were you as this is just ridiculous.
  • The torch was held up and I was informed "THIS IS A TORCH ,NOT A TOY", HE THEN HELD UP THE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL POM POMS AND SAID PERSONALLY THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD CALL THIS A TOY, FEMALE COLLEGUE BUTTED IN WITH DOLL BABY BOTTLE AND SAID THIS IS NOT A TOY. I POINTED OUT I HAD PICKED THEM UP OFF THE TOY SECTION SHELVES AND ASKED IF THEY KNEW AN ADULT WHOO WOULD UDE A DISNEY PRINCESS TORCH AND THEY SAID THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.

They do seem to be a bit strict / crazy on these things.

I went to get my daughter a bed throw with the bedding double ups. Luckily I asked at CS first to be told that it wasn't bedding but other bedroom soft furnishings...!!!
  • Slightly different I know, but yesterday I had the checkout lady trying to tell me that my bread rolls didn't qualify as bread - and hence my "25 Points for a £1.00 spend" voucher wasn't valid. I'd normally have just laughed it off and used it another time when I was buying a loaf, but she got quite aggressive about it, so I stood my ground. Once the checkout supervisor came over she was also trying to tell me that my bread rolls weren't bread. Crazy stuff. Anyway, all ended well when I convinced them of the error of their ways. All for 25 Points, and on a 95 quid shop too. It seems like these rules can be made up whenever they feel like it.

Apart from stupid categories for what are blatently obvious toys, the way you have been treated is appalling! Contact Head Office, you should definately be reimbursed for your distress ;).

I have just looked on the tesco Direct website and the Disney Princess projector
is listed as a toy> Its states in the description that it is a torch/projector
