I have a leak in my bathroom which started about 1,5 month ago.
When I noticed I reported to my landrold as ceiling was damp and part of the carpet and floor wet.
The leak was coming from flat above as I live beneath this flat.
The situation was a bit complicated for the owner of the flat above as they could not trace where the leak is coming from.
My landlord came and spoke to the owner of the flat above. they supposed to contact insurance company. As they didnt know why and where the leak is coming from they open a ceiling and I have this till today.
Nothing was done at all.
Can I ask my landlord for a discount in a rent as I paid the full amount since this situation happend but I dont use this bathroom at all as I have ensuite ?

You can ask, but your landlord doesn't have to agree to it!0

You have no absolute right to a rent reduction but it never hurts to ask.
I know english is not your first language but unfortunately you've left "the modifier dangling" in your first two sentences of the second paragraph. Could you clarify if the highlighted "they" refers to your LL or to the owner of the flat above? The reason is that if your LL has left the ceiling down for a while it strengthens your case. If the LL knows nothing about it, it weakens your case.0 -

He has paid to rent a property with a full bathroom and an en-suite. He has been provided with a property with an en-suite and an unusable bathroom.
His financial loss is the difference between the rental values of the property he is paying for and the property he is being provided with.0 -

Thank you very much for all posts.I really appreciate it.
I will kindly ask my LL for a rent discount.
By putting 'they' I mean LL and the owner from the above as they contacted to each other.Could you clarify if the highlighted "they" refers to your LL or to the owner of the flat above? I'm sorry, I'm still confused. So who took down the ceiling - your LL or the owner from above? How long ago was it taken down (was it a month and a half ago assuming 1,5 means 1.5 and not between 1 and 5 months) and can you still use the bathroom?
If the bathroom is still usable, then I agree with what I and others have said. If the bathroom is not usable then what facilities are available in your ensuite? For how many rooms? There may be a S11 breach (landlord's repairing obligations) here, but without some details it is impossible to be sure.0 -
Thank you very much for being interested in my case.
The ceiling was taken down by the owner of flat above.this was done 60 days ago.you could use the bathroom but we use occasionally.
In ensuite is shower, sink and toilet.this is for 2 bedrooms.0
