Hi
I was just wondering if there where any kind of loans avalible for disabled people or people on ESA, my friend had her dla stoped recently and she can no longer afford to keep up the rent and bills on her current property, she has a ground floor flat the rent is £500 per month she gets £80 housing benifit and £105 esa each week.
she pays £45 towards the rent which leaves her with £60 for the rest of the week, out of this she has gas and electric £20 per week car insurance £20 per week which leaves her with £10 before she has brought food or paid for fuel
she has lived in the same flat for over 15 years she would be devastated if she was forced to move but she can not keep up the rent and living expenses.
she had a small amount of saving which she has been using since her dla was stoped but now they have ran out she can not afford to pay all of the rent, her landlord has said in her contract it states he will start the evition process after 6 weeks if she fails to pay the rent, she is extremly worried she is going to loose her flat and is desperate for load to buy her some time

Can she not get rid of the car? Taking out a loan is not a solution, as she will not be able to pay it back.Gone ... or have I?0

tell her to enquire about discretionary LHA payments which may give additional help with her rent for 6 months, and as DMG advises she muct ditch the car she cant afford it?
why was DLA stopped?she may be able to claim again.0 -
I am of the same view ditch the Car!!!!
Why has her DLA stopped? Has she appealed0 -
shes just informed me shes recived a letter stating her ESA is to be reduced to £90 per week beacuse she is no longer getting high rate DLA and nolonger qualiifers for the disabilty premium! im under the impression her housing benifit will also now be reduced.
After she has paid rent and put £20 on her gas and electric shes left with £25 and after paying her car insurance she is left with £5 before she has put any fuel in or brought any food she relys on her car heavily for her mobility needs but will now have no choice but to get rid of the car.
evern if she now gets rid if the car she is left with £25 per week. out of that she has to buy food pay coulil tax, she cant walk very far so would have to use taxis with no car,bt line rental is £10 per month before calls, i assume she has other outgoing per month internet etc all will have to be canceld
i assume she will have to cancel her home phone, car insurance and any other outgoings she has then she will have £25 a week for food and all her other living expenses.
she is currently appealing the dla dession0 -
