The limit is £300 per payee/per account/per day. Don't try to send any larger amount until someone on here confirms they have been able to do so...

It took the 'regular' 3 days to transfer just £250 to a Halifax account a few months back.

£300 from A&L to FD this morning haven't arrived to FD, looks like it went the long way around.

There is a very low limit on Faster Payments (£300?) but I think there is a £10k online limit on external BACS transfers and £25k on internal transfers. You may be able to shift larger amounts by telephone.

Had you just set up this payment for use the first time or was this the second (or later number of) payments you have sent? . Have you made any successful Faster Payments from your Santander to this FD account yet? [First-time payment to a new payee will go via BACS because that's how Santander likes to check it.]

Yes, it was - I know this trick of Santander's. I have successfully made multiple faster payments to our solicitors account of £10k (the same day!) for the first time ever from First Direct account. I have left A&L/Santander now, it is just my OH who is still with them (not for long probably).
