Have just been told that I need to make a fresh claim

Hello everyone
I am so annoyed with myself. To cut a long story short my sons DLA was up for renewal last May and I was going through a difficult time at work and with my son's illness; I unfortunately mislaid the form.
Well I finally completed it and sent it back very late, in September, and have now been informed that they never received it! They stated that beacuse of the length in time since the renewal should have been received - May, I will now have to make a fresh claim and complete a new form.
I accept that I should have checked up on this more often but with work being so hectic and my own depression its been so hard to cope.
I am so angry with myself, i have ill in hospital and had a bad car accident couple of months and now I have been dealt this blow!
Do you think its worth appealing this decision and writing to them?
I could cry, I am just so stupid..........

Hi nannytone
Yes it did.0 -
You sent it back four months late, with no contact in the interim. Even if you had contacted them to say it was going to be late, they would not give you that long an extension. They are correct, you need to make a new claim.Gone ... or have I?0

There is no decision to appeal. The previous award has ended. You have no option but to fill in a new claim pack. Sorry.0

Moral of the story: Keep a copy, send Recorded Delivery, download a copy signature, mark a deadline for pursuing on the calender.
