I haven't seen the little bird again yet. maybe he was just passing, but its been pretty miserable out so haven;t been loitering outside. I do seem to be getting a robin friend though. :)

Robins instinctively follow large animals around (wild pigs historically) because they want to pounce on any wormy goodies the pigs unearth with their snouts. If you dont start pushing your nose in the earth soon you will lose your new friend ;)

Really? interesting. Luckily I have mud creating animals of my own s no need to snuffle the ground. I still get covered in mud daily though.
  • An aviary escapee perhaps?

    I'm intrigued now ...!

    I'm intrigued now too.

    Was it anything like this?
    Ortolan Bunting
    or
    Pallas's Warbler

Birdguides have reported sightings of both in the UK over the last week.
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

nope, and nope, not to the best of my memory. The grey wag tails are out this morning, not my little mystery.

LOL, its annoying isn't it. I'm hoping its not simply something that was passing through so I can get a better look and solve the puzzle.

Can you remember roughly what size it was. Same as sparrow? blackie? wren etc. Also did it have any distugushing features other than colour? Long legs in relation to its body or very short/long tail etc? How long was its beak in relation to its head? Did it settle long on the roof?

    Also very intrigued.
