Looking for Canon EOS 550d with 18-135 lens

These seem cheap

Wolu co uk

Ebay seller also selling the Canon 'Kiss' which is import version of
the 550d.

Their office is at Canary Wharf.
If you buy it from a UK seller where does import duty come in?
Having bought it from a company in the UK, can you still get stung for tax? I would take it out of the country on holidays and return with it.

Anyone know anything about the above company?

Don't know about the company, and a quick search of some camera forums I'm on shows a dislike towards them- there's more than a few banned usernames, mainly from attempting to advertise without authorisation, from what I can see.

I don't know the company, so can't give personal experience.

The Kiss is the Japanese/Chinese version- usually won't be covered by UK warranty, though Canon are generally a great company in honouring repairs if the warranty isn't UK.

Unsure about import duty- if they have it already in stock in the UK, I wouldn't have thought you'd need to worry about this. If it's coming from China, you probably will. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me!

I wouldn't trust any previously unheard of retailer that claims to be based in Canary Wharf. It doesn't make sense to have their offices somewhere that expensive, so it's almost certainly an accommodation/forwarding address. Which generally means one thing: they don't want people to find them.

If not an outright scam, they are probably not based in the UK at all, and will be shipping non-UK spec items from outside the UK. You will also have to be very lucky not to cop for UK import duty if they do that.

You can always go and pick it up if you are close (or at least enquire if you can). That seems to weed out the blatent fraudsters.

Appears to be a Chinese company masquerading as a Uk one. I would probably not buy from the site. Google them, there's a lot of interesting info.
