Someone I know has a hotmail account and is currently spamming me with viagra sites.

The person is not sending the spam but it is coming from their hotmail account/their computer using the list of contacts.

What should they do to resolve the problem?

  • They need to undertake a Full Virus scan. Here is a good online scanner.

  • if its hotmail its actually a bot that sends it out normally a simple password change will eliminate it. It means the bot has the password and can use the email to send out spam. Its unlikely it is there computer probably had there password extract from another sites database.

Its unlikely that it will be a human interaction its just a common occurance with hotmail

get them to change their password, if that doesnt stop it then go further by running virus scans ect.
