Washing Machine Cycle never ends

Half of the time my Indesit machine completes its washing cycle ok. The other half of the time (even when put on the same setting) the cycle never ends. You can go back ten hours later and it is still going.

Obviously I can switch the machine off, but the clothes are soaking wet and the experience is not doing them any good.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this ?

something to do with the electrics. i bought my indesit 3 weeks ago and it developed a very similar fault within 2 weeks. they made me wait a week before they sent someone out to fix it & he came today, pretended to fix it & left me with a still faulty washer. i am taking it back tot he store for a replacement (as its under 28days old) or refund
    hth :)

  • I have had a similar problem before. It is not pumping out the water, so can't enter its final spin cycle and will just tick away. Infuriating. Hubby started searching for a new machine but then I remembered an old washer repairman's advice from years ago. He told me all the new fangled liquids clogged up machines and we should stick with powder. I did a boil wash cycle with no clothes in then went back to powder and it has worked perfectly since. Worth a punt.

A friend had this problem with his machine.

Apparently his washer would check to see if the water being pumped out was still dirty, if it was, then it would do another wash cycle 'til clean.

As the previous poster points out, the washer needs a good clean. You can get detergent removers for the job.

...and it could very well be something as simple as the filter needing cleaning out. First port of call with any washer problems - check the filter. Most modern filters are easily accessible behind a flap at the bottom of the washer.

It'll probably end up being jammed by a bra wire...

I agree that the first thing to do is check the filter. My machine had similar problems which were immediately rectified by cleaning the filter.
