Conveyancing help

We are trying to find a conveyancer to do a purchase only. Since most of the local solicitors can't be bothered to return phonecalls/answer emails, I'm not happy about paying a premium over online conveyancers.
I went through the link offered on these forums by some long term posters for theadvisory.co.uk and used their compraison website suggestion, compareandconvey.co.uk.
This site claims that the price is WYSIWYG. The best price came up for Bolton, Jones and Co for a simple purchase using searches done for the HIP, at £410.30. I think this is a really good price. I see one other person in the history of MSE has used and recommended them.
Just wondering what people thought of both these sites, the conveyancer and the price. I understand that people prefer to use their trusty, local solicitor but as the last solicitor we used to purchase was rubbish, I won't use him again and don't have another.
Can't find any reviews, bad or good, for this company either.

using searches done for the HIP
Well for a start as HIPs were abolished on about 20th May and searches are out of date after 6 months there will be some extra costs there assuming there is a HIP in the first place!RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -

Ah, okay, I didn't realise the searches only lasted 6 months. Interesting thank you.
So it's already a thumbs down that they ask if you have the HIP and subtract the searches costs from the quote.I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -

As I frequently refer posters to this site I'd like to stress that the area I refer them to is the "Conveyancing Quotes and Hidden Costs" section, which gives an excellent overview of what costs are involved in conveyancing and how different conveyancers include/exclude them in their quotes.
I never refer to the comparison area and know nothing about which conveyancers are included in their database, or how good they might be.
