landlord/rental company taking the p**s

Hello all hope all is well.

I'm looking for some advice regarding my property that me and two friends are renting. We have been renting for just over a month and yesterday we had arranged for BT to come round and install a phone line (property is a new build). Our apartment is in a small block about two hundred yards away from the main apartment block, separated by a car park.
After messing around for over two hours we found out that the phone cable connecting our apartment to the main block had not been installed (obligation of the landlord I was told) Hench we cannot receive a phone line.
After speaking with our letting agents, they informed us that this was due to a legal dispute between our landlord and the contractors who were due to lay the caballing.
Surely we should have been made away of the above before we moved in. We are now going to be without a phone line and internet connection for at least a few months, maybe longer if this dispute is not resolved. This is at a big inconvenience to my housemates and me, especially because I need home internet access for work.
Could anybody recommend any course of action? Has this ever happened to you?

Many thanks in advance,

Phil

Moral obligation yes - legal obligation? I doubt it, unless it's specifically mentioned in your lease aggreement.

I'll have a look in the lease tonight and see what it says with regards to phoneline etc. Wireless would be great, prob being you still need a phoneline to plug your router into.
