Reasonable length of time 'v's quality goods!

I am really fed up with buying things that don't last any length of time.
I do not want a warranty, I do not want to extend the warranty. What I want is for the companies that make things to take some pride in their products and put their money where their mouth is.
I think they should say how long they expect the item to last and that we should be able to hold them to that!
I do not think that 1.5 years for a printer is acceptable. My washing machine has been going for over 6 years...that is acceptable!
I am also fed up with MD's hiding from their customers and not having email addresses available. Don't they want to hear from us, I am beginning to think not, maybe we need to take several tips from the Americans with their customer service policies.
Who is on my side? Maybe we should start a movement!!!!
Enough is enough!
- And I might use even more exclamation marks to make me feel better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For a printer that costs £200 I agree, but how about if the printer was a PC World special and only cost £30?[
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) says that goods should be as follows:- Of a satisfactory quality
This means the goods must meet the standards that any reasonable person would expect, taking into account the description, the price and all other relevant information./QUOTE]
0 - Of a satisfactory quality

I would agree with Shaun - you pay for quality. The cheapest of anything will not last as long as the most expensive, and I would expect that to be reflected in the expected lifeI am also fed up with MD's hiding from their customers and not having email addresses available. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
I feel a sir marcus CEO email post on this one..
Its true what the other posters have said - buying cheaper goods is normally a false economy.one of the famous 50 -
I wouldn't mind if it was cheap. It wasn't.
I have managed to track down the MD and have been referred (or is that moved over) to his PA. Have had a few false starts on the whole...'customer service is important to us line, let us see what we can do'.
Why do they say that if they don't mean it, where is the accountability and basic respect for the customer?
Am now waiting for my 3rd call back that should have happened by 5.30pm today. Excellent customer service..??????0 -

Although some printers are very cheap they are really worth more than the money you pay. Printer manufacturers make their money from the over priced ink cartridges.0 -

AS for your printer problem, perchance a view of the techie Bored or more infoprmation would be abound?0 -
Tried the boards...tried the fixes...nothing doing. 'tis duff!
However, this morning news is good...they have offered to replace the printer as gesture of goodwill. Much appreciated by me!
I am pleased, although they could still benefit from making changes to how they comunicate with customers. Would be happy to offer some suggestions to them, radical thought...have phone numbers and email addresses available!
How do you get an email to Martin...I think someone should take this type of issue up on our behalf!0
