Can i just swap stereo faceplates?

The car i bought has a JVC 12 cd changer unit under the seat and obviously the face plate stereo..when i went to halfords with the other car i had they waived the fitting fee as i got sony replacing sony and the faces just clicked in. Can i do the same with a JVC like this one is now or do they differ?

Make / model of stereo, CD changer and car?

Eh the faceplate is still the same CD player; just with a different face on it.

I assume you mean headunit and if so you would think so but will need to confirm this in case JVC have changed connections; if it has new features like Digital it may not work either.

If you mean head unit, which is to say the entire unit that's bolted into the dash then they usually have the same type of CD changer connector, but not always.

If by faceplate you mean the bit that you remove from the front of the headunit and are supposed to take with you and not just throw it into the glovebox, then in 99.99% of cases you would need to be replacing it with the exact same model of stereo.

As others have said, need the exact model of both the new and old device to actually answer this.
