Would be best living near Central Line ("CL") if it could be either office and you won't know until later.
If it's definitely Covent Garden, you can easily walk from Holborn on the CL - or you could live somewhere that's on the Piccadilly Line.
If it's definitely Oxford Street, you have the choice of 3 tube lines so that would widen your search.
Personally, I'd wait to find out which office so you can make your commute as easy as possible. You really don't want to have to change trains as they're packed once they get into central London. As said, if you need to find somewhere to live before they decide where, I'd opt for the CL.
Once you've decided on which option to go with, people can advise as to areas. Still too vague, IMO. Have a look at a tube map and you'll see what we mean.

The previous thread says most of it!
East/west decisions, with a bit of north if you choose Piccadilly (nicer than Central line IMO).
What ever people tell you, London is excellent, you may move a few times to find the right place/accom, but it is worth it! Have been east and west and settled north. . .
Good luck, and keep us posted!Give yourself a Chistmas bonus £14 a week!
Total so far £280 -
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with London. Lived there for the past 10 years and am now moving to Surrey (dahling lol), but still within easy reach!0

Also, buy and A to Z - the very centre of London is much closer together than the tube map would lead you to believe! More to the point, the tube map doesn't wholly represent London's actual layout.0

Ok so a couple of jobs on offer one at spittle fields one at kingston on thames ohh and stratford what do you think ? I like the sound of spittlefield seen some flats on brick lane what do ya think ??0

If you can afford to live as central as Brick Lane, I'd definitely consider it. Very mixed reviews on Brick Lane - it's famous for its bagels and indian restaurants. It's got quite trendy over the years and there are a few clubs, bars, etc that way now.
I work very nearby and have been to a few
Spitalfields market is okay for a browse, but not something you could do every day. Some nice bits and bobs along with a lot of 'junk' and a few trendy (and pop-up) shops. Quite an arty feel to the area, I'd say. Depends what you're like as a person... It's definitely along vibe of Camden rather than say Knightsbridge! There are a few street markets nearby too.
There is and has been 'trouble' over that way... I'm really not sure what it would be like to actually live in. Would need to keep your wits about you and not take any unnecessary risks! Quite a 'community' place though... a few people from work live over that way and generally enjoy it.
Brick Lane isn't the place to live if London scares you silly...
Google it for more info - and check out the pictures on google images.

Brick Lane despite being a mainly Bengali and Bangladeshi community has already been overtaken by the trendies priced out of more prosperous parts of London.
Working in Kingston-upon-Thames would most deffo mean living out in Surrey and perhaps commuting there. No-one in their right minds would consider travelling from a London post-code to there.
Stratford has really good transport links but it's not a place I would consider living in. You can get there quite easily from somewhere like Leytonstone or Wanstead but they are not Central London but more suburban which might suit. You could also consider Walthamstow as I think you can reach Stratford in about 30 minutes or less (it's ten minutes from where I live not far from Walthamstow) on the overground train and still be in the centre in 30 minutes from there on the tube for going out in the evenings.0 -

What's your budget, is what I think. Hwhat do you earn after tax each month and how much budget do you have for rent and bills? Are you looking for self contained accommodation or a room in a shared property?0 -
PS after reading post above, realised I'd forgot to say 'only live in Brick Lane if you're going to be working in Spitalfields'. Agree with BitterAndTwisted - you really need to know where you're working before deciding where to live. You've given very different areas so impossible still to say where to live.
