hello,

my car whilst beeing parked was damaged badly by a thief driving off with stolen lorry. i guess he s not insured.
now i will loose discount and excess.

loss of that lorry was reported to the police. now is there any chance of police giving us the number plates of that car and if so will that secure our expenses with insurance company? they have uninsured driver promise if you give them details but there is no way for us to find out who was an idiot to try to nick a lorry in a white day:mad:

also can insurance provide you with like for like same spec car instead of a check if it will be writte off? 8 year old car.

thank you

    AFIK:
Police are obliged to tell you number of vehicle which casued damage
You can get the registered keeper via DVLA
You or your insurers can claim your loss and any out of pocket expenses from the registered owner's insurance
If the stolen vehicle is not insured and owner is man of straw you can claim from MIB

You should contact the police and report the damage to your car and obtain a crime reference. Also ask them for the crime reference for the stolen vehicle, give both of these to your Insurers so that they can obtain the police report and details of any insurance etc.

The lorry drivers insurers will not necessarily be liable for the claim, they are only normally liable if the driver is identified (Irrespective of whether they are named on the Insurance).
