Under floor heating

Hi all....hope someone can advise...

Just had a bathroom re-done (about a month or so ago), including electric underfloor heating under the tiled floor. The fitter advised that we shouldn't try the UFH for a month to let the adhesive dry naturally...

So we tried it after a month, and whilst it worked (we've only tried it once), it takes forever to warm up and isn't terribly warm.

Is this normal, or am I setting it wrong? I followed the instructions but (typically) there was an extra step that wasn't in the intruction manual, so think maybe I may have missed something/ done something i shouldn't. Or does it just take ages the warm up the first few times it is used?

Any advice appreciated! I've never had UFH before so not sure what is normal (although having been to a friends house with UFH in the bathroom, I distinctly remember the floor being warmer then ours!)

underfloor heating is not an instant heater, it takes time to heat up, the whole point of it is to heat up to the set temperature and stay there, constantly.
it will likely have about an 6-8 hour heating time, but it shouldn't be getting heated from cold everytime, it's not the same as a radiator
