Dog with Foul-Smelling Breath

Anal glands really need to be dealt with by a vet rather than poking around as the procedure can be quite painful for dogs - and quite dreadful for the individual doing the emptying job if the dog moves and the contents of the glands hit you!!
What sort of dog is she? One of our cockers had the stinkiest breath ever - we tried charcoal biscuits, breath fresheners, human mint toothpaste and a brush - all to no avail. In the end we pinned it down (sometimes) to the pouches at the side of the mouth, where food and awful stuff that some dogs pick up, accumulates. Frequent inspection and gentle cleaning helped.0 -
Have to say that since we swopped to Burns Ive noticed just one of mine has dreadful smelling breath. OH commented on it just last night and checked his teeth and gums but nothing there, teeth perfect and white, no swelling. I reckon it may be the Burns and why its only reacting with one of them, gawd knows. I think I may see if a change back to Royal Canin makes a difference.0

My friends dog had really bad breath, teeth were fine & clean - vet said it was gut rot and to give her one of those pro-biotic drinks once a day - within a few days she was fine - worth a try.A home is not a home ..... without a dog0

My puppys are on burns puppy food, do i have to introduce the junior burns food slowly or just put them straight on it0 -

Definitely introduce it slowly - I know it is the same brand of food, but never-the-less, it will upset their tummies if you just do a straight switch. I know because when we switched ours we, thinking it would ok because it's the same brand, did it too quickly, and both dogs got the runs"Your life is what your thoughts make it"

R.i.P our beautiful girl Suki. We'll love and miss you forever
