Good evening!
My bankruptcy appointment with the court is tomorrow and is when I can start afresh after years of struggling with debts.
Then I am off to the Co-op Bank to open a Cashminder Account.
Looking forward to a new start and putting the past behind me.

Good luck Southgrange. As confused76 says you really won't need it. I was surprised by how quickly it was all over. Just make sure you have money for a coffee or a snack! Let us know how you get on. :A0

Good evening!
I was declared bankrupt this morning and here is a quick piece on how it went.......
I arrived at the court in good time. As soon as I walked through the door I said I had an appointment and I couldnt believe it when he said "for bankruptcy?"
Anyway the clerk took 10 minutes going through the petition and counting the money I had to hand over and she then told me to go wait downstairs for the judge to call me. During the waiting I thought someone I knew might see me but I was relieved when it wasnt him! I waited around half hour, had a coffee before I was asked to see the judge. I honestly hadnt been sat in front of him for 30 SECONDS when he said he would grant the order to make me bankrupt. I can't have been in the room for 1 minute 30 seconds during which time he also told me to go back upstairs, wait for the clerk who would ask me some questions and then put me in touch with the OR.
After a short wait I saw the clerk who asked me some questions in order to get the Bankruptcy Order correct and then she put me onto the phone of the OR. I was on the phone to him for 32 minutes and he then told me I was free to leave court!
I went to the clerk who dave me the Bankruptcy Order and off I went! I am now waiting for the proper interview with the OR.
I was in the court around 1 hour 45 minutes and I left feeling happy and numb at the same time. I definitely was relieved and the whole experience was simple enough. I don't feel like celebrating or anything, just determined to get my life back on track and learn from my mistakes.
I decided to pop into town after to open a Co - op Cashminder and I saw my mate who asked me what I was doing and I made an excuse about going for a job because I was dressed smart. We went for a coffee which I was going to do anyway.
So thats the story so far! I am to ring and write to all my creditors tomorrow to tell them!0 -
Glad it went ok Southgrange. I can definitely relate to how you felt when you left court. Onwards and upwards....0

glad it went smoothly for you...it's never as bad as you imagine. i bet you feel relieved tonight! the OR interview will be ok as well, they just want to gather info, it's not an interrogation
take care0
